The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia will commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. On the 31st October are prepared different events and we would like to inform and invite you to the celebrations.
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of J. M. Hurban took place churchwide commemoration celebration on September 17, Sunday, in the municipality of Hlboké in the Senica District. J. M. Hurban worked as an evangelical pastor in Hlboké from 1843 to 1888.

On the base of Agreement between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in the United States of America and the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia every year accept voluntary teachers from the USA.
The national celebration of the 1154th Anniversary of the arrival of Cyril and Methodius to the territory of today’s Slovakia under the auspices of Prime Minister Róbert Fico was held at Devin Castle near Bratislava on July 5, 2017. Beside the Prime Minister spoke also the General Bishop of the ECAC in Slovakia Miloš Klátik and the Archbishop Stanislav Zvolenský. This national holiday is always celebrated on 5 July in Slovakia.
On Friday and Saturday, 16th to 17th June 2017, the Synod of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia met on the regular meeting.
On Sunday, June 4th 2017, in Lubina the headquarter of Považský seniorate of the ECAC in Slovakia, was held 11th seniorate meeting within missionary event „Liberated by God´s Grace“, which is devoted to 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
The Bishop Emeritus Dr. Suneel Bhanu Busi from India visited ECAC in Slovakia between 19th up to 24th May 2017, and had a lecture at the General Pastoral Conference of the ECAC in Slovakia.
On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, the General Bishop Miloš Klátik received distinguished visitors from the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Austria and Austrian Ambassador in Slovakia Helfried Carl at the Bishop´s Office in Slovakia.
By the occasion of the 200th anniversary of birth of Jozef Miloslav Hurban (1817-1888) was hold in Beckov nationwide and church-wide commemoration of evangelical pastor and superintendent, chairman of the first Slovak National Council, significant personality of the Evangelical Church and Slovak nation, on 19th March 2017.
In the Evangelical Church of the A. C. in Španie Pole was held a solemn Worship Service by the occasion of renewal church, on the March 5, 2017. The dedication did the General Bishop Miloš Klátik; preacher at the service was Brother Martin Michaelis from Germany.
The traditional new year´s meeting the President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska with the representatives of the churches and religious community was held in the President palace in Bratislava, the 12 January 2017.
In sunny but freezing Sunday morning, the January 8, 2017 were gathered Evangelicals from the Rimavská Sobota, in order at the 4th missionary event, which is prepared in connection with 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
In Brezno, on Sunday, the 20th November 2016, was held a commemorative worship Service by the occasion of the 210th anniversary of birth and 150th anniversary of death Dr. Karol Kuzmány. He was an evangelical pastor, superintendent and first deputy chairman of Matica Slovenská.
The scientific-historical conference organized by the ECAC in Slovakia under the theme of Jozef Miloslav Hurban – benefit for the Church and the Nation, was held at the Zichy Palace in Bratislava, on 10th November 2016.
The first Joint Catholic-Lutheran commemoration of the Reformation was held on the Reformation Day, October 31, in evangelical cathedral in Lund and Malmö, Sweden. The theme of the joint commemoration was „From Conflict to Communion – Together in Hope“. The General Bishop Miloš Klátik, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia, as a member of the LWF Meeting of Officers took part at the Commemoration.
On Friday, 28 October 2016, the Slovak Bishops’ Conference hosted a conference “Family mainstreaming – Starting point of the demographic and cultural crisis in Europe” aimed at addressing the causes and answers to the demographic winter and cultural crisis Europe is faced with. The General Bishop Miloš Klátik attended the Conference.
The Theological Conference of the ECAC in Slovakia was held since the 19th up to 21st October 2016 in spa hotel in Lúčky on the theme „Reformation“. More than 150 participants from Slovakia and abroad were attended.
On Sunday, 25th September 2016, in Evangelical Church in Bardejov was held solemn ordination Worship service of five new pastors of ECAC in Slovakia.
Part of the wealthy program during the 5th Evangelical Church Days was discussion forums and lectures. Traditionally, was held the discussion with the guests of the General Bishop Miloš Klátik on theme the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
The highest representatives of the Slovak Evangelicals from Serbia, from Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic and from Slovakia met at the Constitutive General Assembly of the Association of the Slovak Evangelical Churches from Slovakia and foreign countries, on the day July 6, 2016 under the one of the point of the program of the 5th Evangelical Church Days in Békéscsaba.
On Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:00 was held solemn Worship Service during the 5th Evangelical Church Days in a space of Evangelical Church in Békéscsaba. The Worship Service was recorded the Hungarian television in cooperation with the Slovak television, and was broadcasted in television one week later.
Ecumenical Worship Service on the occasion of beginning of Slovak Presidency in Council of the European Union was held on the eve of National holiday – Slovak apostles Cyril and Methodius, the 4th July 2016, in the St. Martin's Cathedral, Bratislava.
1st July 2016 – in the 1st day of the Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union was held solemn gala concert in the Slovak National Theatre. The General Bishop Miloš Klátik also took part in the concert.
