The End of the Decade to Overcome Violence in Jamaica

From 17 to 25 May 2011, the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation, which ended the series of meetings in the framework of the Decade to Overcome Violence, was held in Kingston, Jamaica. Attending were representatives of several churches including the General Bishop of the ECAC in Slovakia Miloš Klátik.
At the conference, representatives of many organizations from allover the world that work within the framework of diaconia, social servicesvices, and peace activities. The conference was organized by the World Council of Churches, in cooperation with the Caribbean and Jamaican church council. The International Ecumenical Peace Convocation was dedicated to four main themes: peace within the society, peace with the earth, peace in the economy and peace among peoples. The Decade to Overcome Violence was launched in 2001. Within 10 years it has managed to achieve many of their goals and its fruits can be seen in many areas all over the world.
