Reighteous Among Nations

17 Slovaks have been awarded with the title Reighteous Among Nations on 1st of February 2012. This title is given to people of non-jewish descent who helped Jews during holocaust. General bishop Milos Klatik was present during the awarding ceremony.
Names of the awarded will be engraved into the Wall of Honor in the Garden of Reighteous in Yad Vashem. This award was given to people based on testimonies of surviving witnesses and also according to historical evidence up until now. Altogether there is over 23 000 people awarded all over the world. There is almost 540 awarded people in Slovakia which makes us one of the nations with highest ratio.
