The exhibition on the 19 thematic panels and by 400 items from museums, art galleries and archives presents life and work of Ľudovít Štúr in the context of Slovak history, since the time of Great Moravia up to the present.

Ľudovít Štúr (28 October 1815 Uhrovec - 12 January 1856 Modra) belongs, undoubtedly, to the most significant personalities of modern Slovak history. He entered the history as a creator of ideology, initiator and active implementor of changes in the Slovak society at an extraordinarily sensitive stage of its development, at the time of the transition from the class to the civic society. With his manifold activity, he had earned himself a merit in the development of the Slovak national movement which, under his leadership, acquired the ability to fight for the national rights of the Slovaks in the difficult conditions of the national oppression aimed at the Magyarisation of the Slovaks. The main goal of Ľudovít Štúr’s life-long efforts was to raise the Slovaks, as an independant nation, to the level of advanced European countries by universal modernisation. This goal was to be achieved with their own hard work rather than at the expense of others.
