There are many Lutheran churches that are in partnership with our church. However, ECAC in Hungary has a special place among these as we have common history together. Since establishment of Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession in the Kingdom of Hungary, independent from catholic church, until 1918 when the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy fell apart and our church became independent. We have been together through thick and thin for more than 300 years.
The leadership of SMER-SD met with social partners on 28th of March 2012 in order to set up cooperation and get help with creation of government curriculum..
The committee met on Thursday the 29th of March in Stuttgart and was attended by more than 20 members of the partnership.
ECAC in Slovakia and ECAC in Hungary signed a partnership sontract in Komarom, Hungary. This took place on 21st of March 2012 and was signed by the representatives of both churches.
The meeting took place on 14th and 15th of 2012. Conference was attended by representatives of churches, diaconie and synods of the three churches – ECAC from Slovakia and the german church of Wurttemberg and Middle Germany.
The General Bishop’s Office has been visited by the chairman of Slovak Institute in Toronto – Ondrej Mihal. He has presented his new book “Spiritual Life of Slovaks in Canada”.
Our church has been visited by representants of Diaconie from Wuerttemberg, Germany, along with reporters from Evangelischer Pressedinst and Stuttgarter Zeitung.
Last year’s meeting in Zvolen with the same theme was continued on the General Bishop’s Office in Bratislava. After short worship service lead by Jan Velebir, Edita Skodova – the secretary for media and communication of the GBO has opened the meeting.
Annual conference of the Bible Study Group (MOS) of ECAC in Slovakia took place in Dudince from 2nd to 4th of March 2012. This year’s topic was “Spiritual Gifts”.
8th districtual pastoral conference in Nový Smokovec was dedicated to media and use of the media in the church. The conference was opened by bishop of the Eastern district – Slavomir Sabol, who mentioned the crucial part of media in spreading of the evangel. He also stressed that if media is to help the church, it also needs to bring peace into its life and bring people closer together.
