The Nation`s Memory Institute about persecution Churches during communism

The Nation´s Memory Institute organized meeting with church historians, to the documentation persecution of the Churches during communism era in Slovakia, on April 13, 2016 at Žilina. At the seminar were attended representatives of the active Christian Churches in Slovakia. To the participants also spoke general bishop Miloš Klátik.
At the seminar were attended also district bishop of the Western District Milan Krivda, chairman of the Evangelical Pastors Association Daniel Midriak and others.

General Bishop Miloš Klátik in his speech appreciated the invitation of the Nation´s Memory Institute in to cooperation. Bishop expressed conviction, that this initiative could bring closer communities and history of persecution non-catholic churches during communism. Especially, ECAC in Slovakia and persecution of members of the ECAC was not enough known in society until now. Some of books have been published on this topic, for example, the newest book Church in oppression is being devoted mainly the personality of Pavel Uhorskai, former General Bishop, who was persecuted. It is necessary to study open materials to the public in Nation´s memory Institute and on the basis of this materials inform public about wrong/injustice, which had been done in past.

The Chairman of the Board of Director of the Nation´s Memory Institute Ondrej Krajňák familiarized participants with the purpose of meeting and with the aim of the cooperation. He said: „I have a hope, that we achieve expected targets in mutual co-operation, open new themes, until now un-know, unexplored stories of extraordinary people, witnesses of faith, who proved to be a light and salt, and inspiration for many generations.“
