The Celebration of the 170th Anniversary of the Codification of Slovak Language

On 14 July, 2013 we commemorated the 170th anniversary of the Codification of Slovak language in Hlboké. Many pastors from the surrounding region and delegates from the goverment body participated in the commemorative worship service. Dušan Čaplovič, the Minister of education, science, research and sport of the Slovak Republic, was also present at this celebration.
The Bishop Emeritus Ivan Osuský was preaching. He chose the words from 1 Thessalonians 5, 19: „Don’t put out the Spirit’s fire” as the basis for his sermon. The choir from the congregation in Senica was singing at this worship service.
After the worship service the celebration continued by the monument to Jozef Miloslav Hurban at the local cemetery where the representatives of goverment body put wreaths to the monument and gave speeches to the participants. Miloslav Hvožďara Jr. was speaking about the life and work of Jozef Miloslav Hurban.
At the end of the celebration the representatives planted a lime tree as a symbol of Slavonic reciprocity and the local women's choir sang the song “Hej, Slováci”. All participants joined in singing.
