Thanksgiving Worship Service on the Ocassion of General Bishop’s Golden Jubilee

On 11 September a thanksgiving worship service was held on the ocassion of Bishop Klatik’s golden jubilee at the Lutheran church in Bratislava – Petrzalka. Many representatives of ECAC in Slovakia, goverment body, religious communities as well as forein bishops, representatives of Lutheran World Federation and many others took part in this celebration.
Rev. Milan Krivda, deputy general bishop and bishop of Western district, was preaching. He emphasized bishop Klatik’s ministry in the congregation of Bratislava – Petrzalka. Brother bishop Miloš Klátik built up a Lutheran church with a parish house, established a Lutheran preschool, a Lutheran groundschool and a Lutheran gymnasium in Bratislava. Brother Rev. Krivda also emphasized his work at the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava as well as his functions abroad and in Slovakia and his publishing activity.
In the name of Catholic-Roman Church arcibishop Mons. Stanislav Zvolensky gave a congratulatory address to bishop Klatik. He emphasized bishop Klatik’s ecumenical efforts, especially toward Catholic-Roman Church. He expressed gratitude for his openness and for seeking new ways of cooperation.
Following significant representatives gave their congratulatory speeches: László Fazekas, bishop of Reformed Christian Church in Slovakia and vice-chairman of Ecumenical Council of Churches in Slovakia; Igor Rintel, chairman of Jewish community in Slovakia; Ján Figeľ, vice-chairman of National Council of Slovakia, Frank Ottfried July, representative of United Lutheran Churches in Germany, Norbert Denecke from Hannover, Paul Weiland, superintendent of Lutheran Church in Austria, Jerzy Samiec, bishop of Lutheran Church in Poland, Tomáš Butta, representative of Ecumenical Council of Churches in Czech Republic and patriarch of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and representatives from the congregation in Bratislava-Petrzalka and many others.
