On a visit at the Chairman of the National Council

The Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Pavol Paška hosted the Board of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia – General Bishop Miloš Klátik and General Inspector Imrich Lukáč and the Board of the Evangelical Church body in Beckov.
The reason for this visit was to propose a cooperation of the ECAC and the National Council at the occasion of commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Evangelical pastor and the superintendent Jozef Miloslav Hurban, the first Chairman of the Slovak National Council. The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession turned to the Chairman of the National Council with a project of the national celebration of an event at Hurban`s birthplace – in Beckov. The dominant organizers would be ECAC and the National Council.

In spite of the fact that this anniversary will be remembered on 19 March 2017, by that time we would like to have his memorial built next to the Evangelical Church in Beckov and unveil it on this occasion.

The present Chairman of the National Council Pavol Paška promised that the Council will participate. He emphasized the importance of J. M. Hurban and he hopes that the memorial will be built by the intended time even with a financial assistance of the Council.
