New Teachers from ELCA at our schools

From 17th to 22nd August 2014 was hold in Bratislava orientation course for 11 teachers from America (also Canada), which will be to teach in our evangelical schools in next academic year 2014/2015.
They will be teach at Evangelical Lyceum in Bratislava, and on High School in Košice, Liptovský Mikuláš and Tisovec. Two teacher will be also send to teach in the Poland – Tešín and Hungary – Aszód.
The schedule of orientation course was about acquaint teachers with new surroundings/ background – Slovakia, central Europe, Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession, education system in Slovakia, evangelical schools. They also tried to learn some slovak words with teacher for foreigner.

On Monday they visited General Bishop´s office ECAC in Slovakia in Bratislava. The meeting was prepared by secretary for schools and religious education Daniela Veselá. On the beginning she greeted new teachers and she expressed grateful to the God about their decision to arrival to teach here in Slovakia. She also speak about situation in evangelical schools during the communism era: „ thanks be to God, this time is behind us and we are grateful that we administers preschools, schools and gymnasiums in Slovakia“. She wished them a much wisdom by God for their work, patience and understanding. She also expressed a hope that their work and efforts will make progress to bring an enhancement to our schools. (According to all-Slovakian educational survey Evangelical schools have repeatedly been the highest.)

On the end of the orientation week teachers had commissioning service with Holy Supper in Malý Kostol Bratislava. They was commissioned by ELCA Global Mission to serve in Central Europe by Arden Haug: „I commission you as a teaching missionaries in the schools and life of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia and Poland and Hungary. May you serve in humble confidence, guided and supported by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.“ They received also benediction and greetings from ECAV in Slovakia by bishop of the western district Milan Krivda. He wished them may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with them and fill them by his Spirit. He looking forward to the next meeting with the teachers who teach in schools of the Western District.
