Mission Conference of ECAC in Slovakia 2013

On 15 November 2013 the Mission conference of ECAC in Slovakia, which is organized by the Mission Committee of ECAC in Slovakia every two years, was held in the Church Free Time Centre in Brestovec - U Svítkov.
The aim of this meeting was to evaluate the current situation in missionary work, propose solutions for problems, further development and direction of missionary work.
24 participants took part in this conference including bishop Miloš Klátik with his wife Oľga Klátiková. Chairman of the Mission Committee Rev. Štefan Kišš officiated at the opening service and based his sermon on 1 Peter 5, 8 vers:”Keep your mind clear, and be alert. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion as he looks for someone to devour.” He pointed out at troubles with being alert if we are inactive. We can only follow Jesus Christ if we are alert and active.
After the worship Rev. Marián Kaňuch had a presentation on theme „Where is and does our missionary work go?“. He pointed to the big increase of Christians in Africa and asked himself what the reason was. He also suggested to be in touch with African representatives of these fast-growing churches and publish catechism in modern tongue.
Most of participants inclined to the opinion that our church should invite more laymen to missionary work and create an easier and accesible education for them.
Rev. Štefan Kišš concluded the conference with a prayer and bishop Miloš Klátik gave a benediction to the participants.
