Ecumenical Service to 600th Anniversary of Master Jan Hus

The Ecumenical Council of Churches in Slovak Republic invited believers on Ecumenical Service in Small Evangelical Church at Paneská street at occasion 600th anniversary of martyr death of Master Jan Hus (1369/1370 – 6 July 1415) in Constance.
At Service were representatives member churches of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Slovakia and Roman-Catholic Church was represented by auxiliary bishop from region Spiš, Andrej Imrich. Greeting from Minister of Culture read Director of Church department Ministry of Culture in Slovakia Ján Juran.

At the Service preached Bishop of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church in Slovakia Jan Hradil. He pointed out relevance of message of Master Jan Hus for today. He pointed, that Jan Hus – critic of middle age society, at the beginning of the 15th century he became a leading thinker and a representative of the reform movement in Bohemia. Jan Hus, burned at the stake, is a famous witness for today’s society that our life is not meaningless, that good works have a future and everything will be judged by the fairest judge of all. It is Hus´s gospel for us, for the Czech and the entire European Union. Jan Hus has become a symbol of truth, which is not just information but knowledge that has value for life.
