It is no easy taskt to build a new church nowadays. The story of a new church in the village Iža near Komarno is no different.
From 26 July to 1 August met 19 employees of children from 10 countries of Europe, met in the International Protestant youth center in ICHTHYS Veľký Slavkov. They are members of European Lutheran Sunday School Association (ELSA) that has been operating for some 16 years. The members meet regularly every 3 years.
The congregation of the ECAC in Slovakia Podlužany organized in cooperation with the Evangelical Diakonia already ninth camp for children from Kovačica (Serbia).
From 16 - 20 July a youth camp for youth from Kokava nad Rimavicou and from Rimavské Brezovo was prepared by pastor Martin Riecky Janka Miháliková. It was organized in the community center in Nove Mesto nad Vahom.
The committee of church music and hymnology of the ECAC in Slovakia prepared organ course for cantors titled "Cantor service of organist" between 8 - 11 July 2012. The course was held at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava. It was attended by 19 of our Cantors.
On Thursday, the 12th July 2012 Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod, Rev. Dr. David Holly visited Slovakia. He was accompanied by the pastor Rev. Dusan Toth and Rev. Dušan Tillinger.
Promotion of graduates of master's and bachelor's programs of the Evangelical Theological Faculty (ETF) Comenius University in Bratislava was held in the auditorium of the Comenius University in Bratislava on 3 July 2012. Studies of 31 graduates have been successfully completed, including also PhD students.
The Pastoral exams have been held at GBO in Bratislava nn 10 July 2012. Overall, nine graduates of the Evangelical Theological Faculty (ETF) of Comenius University, have successfully completed their master's degree in "Evangelical Theology" and applied to become pastors. All nine students passed the tests.
The Board of the ECAC in the Czech Republic - Superindentent Marián Čop and Jaromír Neuman - visited the city of Bratislava on 9 July 2012. They have signed the partnership agreement, which established a close cooperation of the ECAC in Slovakia with the ECAC in the Czech Republic, at the General Bishop’s office.
At the main stage during the festivities of 3rd Evangelical Church Days in Lucenec on 30th of June a premiere of oratorio about Cyril and Method could be seen by the visitors. The writer of this oratorio is poet and writer Daniel Havier and music has been composed by Lubomir Hornak. Interpretation of texts that were part of the video projection was carried out by Stefan Bucko. This ambitious project came to existance thanks to the financial support of Ministry of Culture.
