On the occasion of celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Constantin and Methodius to our area, the Constantinopol archbishop, the ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. came for a three-day state call. He visited Bratislava on 27th May 2013 after visiting Prešov and Košice.
One of the permanent regional working groups of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is the European commission “Church and Jewishness” (Lutherische Europäische Komission Kirche und Judentum – LEKKJ ). The European Membership Churches of the LWF including the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (ECAC) in Slovakia are represented in the commission. This year annual conference of European commission of the LWF “Church and Jewishness” took place in Bratislava on 23 – 27 May 2013.
The Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Pavol Paška hosted the Board of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia – General Bishop Miloš Klátik and General Inspector Imrich Lukáč and the Board of the Evangelical Church body in Beckov.
The third working session, this time on schools, was held on April 27, 2013 in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Bureau at Liptovský Mikuláš. The School Committee of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (ECAC) in Slovakia was a co-organizer of the meeting.
The highest representatives of Christian Churches met at the Hotel Devin on 22nd March 2013 to exchange information and opinion/suggestions on some important issues of common interest.
The President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič during his official visit in Hungary put a wreath to the plaque of the evangelic pastor, a poet and a linguist Ján Kollár placed on the front of Luther House on Rakoczi Street in Budapest. It was unveiled in December 2012.
The General Bishop Miloš Klátik participated in the CEC Preparatory meeting for the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches. It was organized by the Church and Society Commission of the Conference of European Churches in Brussels on 27 – 28 February 2013.
The relatives, representatives of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession (ECAC) in Slovakia, the representatives of the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava, many clergymen and clergywomen, brothers and sisters in Faith from the whole Slovakia gathered on the funeral ceremony of Dr. Ján Greššo, which was held on 23rd February 2013 at 11 o`clock at the Evangelical church on Panenská Street in Bratislava.
The book Confessio Augustana is exibited in the museum in Rimavská Sobota. It is a very rare book declaring the principles of the protestant religious learning of Lutherans which was published in German in Norinberg in 1567.
On February 7-9, 2013 there was a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Slovak nation`s significant personality Samuel Tomašik. The celebration began in Gemerska Teplica (his birthplace) on Thursday, continued on Friday with the conference in Chyžné and culminated on Saturday with worship, where the general Bishop was preaching (rediffusion by STV).
