In 1941, a set of anti-Jewish laws went into effect in the Nazi wartime satellite Slovak Republic on September 9. Every year on this day, Slovakia commemorates its Holocaust victims. In October 2001, the Slovak parliament voted to make September 9 the Memorial Day for Victims of the Holocaust and Racial Violence, to not only commemorate Holocaust victims, but also to call on citizens to become actively engaged in fighting racism, xenophobia, intolerance and discrimination.

On Saturday, 26 July 2014 at the Lutheran Church in Prešov was held a ceremonial ordination five new chaplains. To the service of church was introduced, were ordained : Jakub Pavlús, Svetlana Bodnárová, Michal Meliško, Andrea Kurčík a Soňa Pichnarčíková. After the graduation the degree program Evangelical theology at the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava and passing the chaplain exam successfully, accomplish all condition for work to be a pastor.

Evangelical/Protestant church day participate more than 5.000 lutherans from the all Slovak republic. On the third Sunday of the Advent time a Reformation tree was planted on the occasion of the 229th anniversary of the consecration of the church in Sobotište. Within the ceremonial worship service a restored case from year 1783, which was made by the first curator after the Edict of Tolerance - Ján Leštjan, was given to the congregation. It was a gift by Rybova and Batkova family. It will be placed behind the altar as a part of the exposition about history of the congregation in Sobotište.
